Gopro

The company was founded by Nick Woodman in 2002. Woodman started the company following a 2002 surf trip to Australia in which he was hoping to capture quality action photos of his surfing, but could not because amateur photographers could not get close enough, or obtain quality equipment at reasonable prices. His desire for a camera system that could capture the professional angles inspired the 'GoPro' name.

In 2004, the company sold its first camera system, which used 35 mm film.Digital still and video camera were later introduced. As of 2014 a fixed-lens HD video camera with a wide 170-degree angle was available; two or more can be paired to create 360 video.

On June 4, 2014, the company announced the appointment of former Microsoft executive Tony Bates as President reporting directly to Nick Woodman.

After growing the number of employees by more than 500 in 2015, the company responded to weak sales in the fourth quarter by cutting about 100 or 7% of its workforce in January 2016.

Paramania

ere at Paramania, we strive to produce fun wings, which are a pleasure to fly whatever level of pilot you are. We are a team of passionate paramotorists who love the simplicity and beauty of the sport.

Some wing manufacturers, who without understanding the full relationship between wing and motor, are converting free flying wings into paramotoring wings. It was the same for hangliders; in the beginning people were using normal free flying, non-reinforced hangliders for power. Then along came specifically designed wings that took the sport into new highs.

Paramania challenges the boundaries of practical design, and produces just such wings. Our products are renowned for their extreme stability, giving pilots confidence yet retaining the dynamic feeling which makes paramotoring so enjoyable.

Oakley

Oakley was started by James Jannard in 1975 out of his garage with an initial investment of $300. The name "Oakley" came from Jim's English Setter, "Oakley Anne." Jannard began by selling what he called 'The Oakley Grip' out of the back of his car at motocross events. His motorcycle grips were unlike other grips available at the time, using a patented material known as 'Unobtainium'('Unobtanium'), a unique creation by Jannard. The material is still used to make the earsocks on Oakley glasses, and many of the nose pieces and now the bands of their watches. Oakley went on to produce number plates, gloves, grips, elbow guards, chin guards, and goggles for the BMX and motocross communities.

During the preparations for the ultimately successful rescue of thirty three miners trapped for ten weeks in a Chilean mine in October 2010, a journalist covering the story contacted Oakley about donating sunglasses to the rescue effort, aware that the miners would need eye protection after having spent weeks in darkness. Oakley donated 35 pairs of its Radar sports glasses, fitted with specially selected tints.

Oakley sponsored members of the US Olympic Team in 2012.

In August 2013, Oakley sold its REVO brand to Sequential Brands for $20m.
